My Name is Duygu
I used to be a banker. My job was ‘Risk Taking’.
I was buying, selling, changing, converting, placing, hedging, gaining, losing. Fundamentally, I was living on the edge.
Everytime I’ve thought about the phrase ‘Risk Taking’, I ‘ve felt nothing but anxiety.
WHY?
Because TAKING RISK may end up in a failure.
And NOBODY wants to fail. But my definition of ‘Risk Taking’ has now changed.Eversince the day I met a 77 year old woman called Julie, I have viewed the concept in a different light. Julie had reinvented herself countless, and is now, at age 87, a successful stand up comedian.
In Julie’s words:
Taking risk is about DARING- Daring to do things; Daring to change. Everytime we dare, our comfort zone expands.
Let’s dare to be for one another: to listen, to try to understand, to transform ideas into reality, to pursue our dreams.
In the words of Stephen King:
‘We did not ask for this room or this music. We were invited in. Let us endure hardship to be grateful for plenty, pain to be astounded by joy, and we have been life to deny death…
We did not ask for this room or this music.
But because we are here.
LET’S DANCE ‘

Embracing Risk for Passionate Entrepreneurs

When it comes to funding your business venture, angel investors play a pivotal role. These individuals are not just financial backers; they are individuals who are willing to forgo their right to use their money for other purposes in order to support your passion and your business.
Understanding the mindset of angel investors is crucial for entrepreneurs seeking funding, as it provides insights into what these investors seek and the expectations they have for the entrepreneurs they choose to support.
Angel investors are well aware of the high risks involved in investing in early-stage businesses. Unlike traditional investments that generate immediate income, angel investments are made with the expectation of future returns.
However, what sets angel investors apart is their desire to see change and innovation in the world. They are driven by a passion for disruptive ideas and a vision of the future of business. They choose to support entrepreneurs who align with their passion and share their vision.
Risk 1
Angel investors consider several key factors before deciding to invest in a business. Initially, they look for entrepreneurs who possess passion, ambition, and a deep understanding of their own business. Entrepreneurs who exhibit credibility, stamina, and trustworthiness are more likely to attract the attention of angel investors.
Additionally, investors seek a degree of momentum in the form of early traction or promising market interest.
While the entrepreneur’s qualities are crucial, angel investors also conduct thorough assessments of the market, the business model, and the competitive landscape. They evaluate the disruptive nature of the product or service being offered and its potential to capture a significant market share. Investors seek innovative solutions that can challenge the status quo and create a positive impact on the industry.
As an entrepreneur seeking angel investment, it is essential to recognise your own worth and the value you bring to the table. While financial support is crucial, remember that you are offering an opportunity to the investor in return for their funds. This mindset shift empowers you to approach investors with confidence and belief in your product and cause. You should not simply beg for their support but present a compelling case that showcases the potential for mutual success.
Angel investors are a unique breed of individuals who embrace risk, driven by their passion for disruptive ideas and their vision of the future.
By understanding the mindset of angel investors, entrepreneurs can approach fundraising with confidence, taking back their power and presenting their ventures as valuable opportunities.
Remember, your passion and vision hold immense worth, and attracting the right investors will help you bring your dreams to reality.
